      Most of my detentions were after school ones, but I did several weekend detention and about a 30 Saturday detentions. The headmaster did not approve of suspension, especially for cutting lessons, because he saw it as an extra holiday. So instead of suspension, I was given weekend detention, which ran from 4pm on Friday (with people in ordinary Friday night detention) right through to Monday, where from 6am to 8am, I would enjoy a cold shower, collecting leaves, running round the school field and a final twelve cuts of the cane.

      yes bring it on ism 40 yrs old and do believe that there is not enough discipline at home or school. if there was this sort at school ,parents would do more to help there child's behavior.some say the cane was bad it did no good i think different,once you've had it once it got a lot off respect. from me anyway i thought twice about back chatting of the teachers and what i was about to do.BRING BACK 6 OFF THE BEST

This was as late as th 90s and I think was one of the few schools around to have such a harsh dtention policy. But it did work. My parents were not impressed and actually encouraged the school to put me in lengthy detentions. 1/2 hour detentions are just minimal and I think schools should be resourced to be able to impose these kinds of punishments. It means more than just caning as you reflect on what you've done. Caning is short sharp and all over in no time, this ultimatley achieves little. I do however believe detention should be a really unpleasant experience, as said it is the whole point of being punished. My behaviour was unacceptable and could have caused no end of problems for me had it not being dealt with properly at the time. I do want to say any form of racism is abhorent and I remain sorry for my behaviour at the time.

      So teacher cane my hand 50 times on each hand, then i have to turn around and and lean over table, teacher cane my bottom 50 time then my thigh 50 time then he get belt and whip my bottom 50 time and whip my thigh 50 time, then he get whip and ask me to take my tshirt under my school shirt off and put my school shirt back on and he whip my back 50 time. He pull my ear again and ask to my parent if they think i deserve more and my parents say it is upto teacher. So the teacher say ok, now he is on punishment all day. He must clean all the tables, rooms, bathroom, in school and i will no go home until finish. So teacher say to my parents maybe i be punished till 10pm and every hour I get 50 hits like this morning, so the faster and good job i do i have more hits. My parents say ok, if it is what you want to do, Aldar has been naughty he must be punished how teacher want.

      So I did not finish my Saturday detention and had to go on Sunday for same punishment, Monday after school and Tuesday afterschool. Teacher have no merci because my back is very bad bruise and painful. My parents say I have to be punished. This is life in Bulgaria village.

        This seems very harsh indeed. I was reading something about the Eastern European Countries and former Soviet Countries being extremely strict. I believe in Georgia and Syria they have punishment cells for students in which they actually also lock you up in?

I actually have been put on a detention which will make me go to school the week it finishes and also stay at school from 9am to 5pm. As apparently even though the school year has ended teachers are at school until the 18th of December. This is at a NSW school in Australia.

      So I have weekend detention this Saturday from 9am to 5pm, Afterschool detention tomorrow Thursday till 6pm, and on Friday till 6pm. Next week Tuesday, Thursday, Friday till 6pm and Next Saturday from 9am to 5pm, and then when everyone is on their school holidays I have to attend school for another 3 days, 9am to 5pm. It was because I jumped the school fence during lunch time, to go to the shops, and I got caught. I didnt know how I was going to tell my mum, but yeh, I had no choice to. I have to be in school uniform on Saturday as well, and punishment will include, picking up rubbish, cleaning the tables, toilets, writing lines, facing the wall.

I've had afterschool detentions many times, and could tell my parents, but facing my parents and telling them I was on a weekend detention was the worst part of the punishment. However they where saying that if ive been naughty i deserve it. What i did was got 3 afterschool detentions by the same teacher in a term, and then I used the F word when she said my next detention I get with her will be a weekend detention. So she gave it to me for using the F word. I had to wear my school uniform, and there where 2 teachers present. One male head teacher and Miss Jones which is the teacher that gave me the weekend detention. I had to get the bus to school as usual, and was there early about 8.30am. As the next bus wouldve got me there late. And my punishment started by picking up the rubbish outside for about 2 hours till 11am. Then had to clean come inside and write lines, I had and hour and half to write 1000 and was told if I don't finish the lines ill be finishing them that evening after I do my other punishments. So 12.30pm I was told I can have a small break for 15 minutes. In which I went to the toilet and had a quick snack. 12.45pm to 3.30pm had to clean the desks and vacuum 4 rooms, I finished about 4pm. As from 3.30pm to 4.30pm I was supposed to face the wall. So I had to face the wall from 4pm to 5pm, then had had half an hour to clean the staff toilet, in which i finished at 5.30pm. Then was told that I had to finish the lines, I had about 400 lines left to write. In which I was going to take another hour and a half to finish. So I was given the option of attending another Saturday detention next Saturday for 4 hours and just write lines plus 1000 more or the teacher calls my parents and tells them my detention will have to be extended for another hour and half and I have to do 500 lines as well at home and get it signed by both my parents and bring it in on Monday. Either way if I decided to go on a detention next Saturday, I still wouldve had to finish writing the lines by Monday and do 500 more. So I decided to stay and finish the lines. So the teacher called my parents and explained. But after all that, and finishing my detention at 7pm. The male head teacher decided to give me a detention for the following Saturday anyway as I had ruined his plans for Saturday night. So I have another weekend detention next Saturday again from 9am to 5pm. I got home, my parents where like, so did you end up finishing your punishments, and i was like yes, but the head teacher decided to give me the weekend detention for next week after all. And I had to finish the lines this evening. I still have to do 500 more and you both have to sign it.
          And also have to sign the form for next Saturdays weekend detention. But I do feel much more comfortable, and relaxed about it. As it doesn't really bother me with the detentions and the punishments I get, the scariest was telling my folks.

            by doing this form of detention will it make you think next time about using the 'f' word as you are not gordon ramsy (if you don't know who he is googel him)
            think of your next sat detention as punishment for your teacher and not you as he has to give up his saturday to baby sit you.
            have your mum and dad grounded you also?or do they think you have been punished enough.
            would you of prefered this sort of punishment or the old fashion cain across the hand?
            as i said before they cannot force you to face a wall as this is classed as toucher and against you rights.
            get the teacher to prove to you how you and you alone reuined his dat night as he agreed to cover this detention and you did not make him stay there it was the other way round.
            why did you have a quick snack in the toilet there must of been a better place.

So Im assuming they put me on detention again to get paid. Someone told me this at school, as their dad is an accountant. I hope I don't get a Saturday detention again, however I have already had 2 afterschool detentions with another teacher, so if I get one more it will be the third one, and the one after that will be another Saturday detention. This Saturday there are about 5 students on a Saturday detention, as far as I know 2 got Saturday detention due to they got caught smoking, and the other 3 similar to why I got my Saturday detention as they had been on 3 detentions with the same teacher.

              Not to sure, if I would rather the cane, my dad used to get it a fair bit. I would probably like to get it, just to see how it feels. My dad actuallly said, that when he used to get detentions he would mostly also get the cane, on his palms, and sometimes bottom. Sometimes he would also get a strap. So Im assuming I would still be on detention and get caned. However If I had a choice between Saturday detention and a couple of strikes of cane, I think the cane would hurt for a while, but at least I wont have to suffer all day.
              I wouldnt mind trying to get caned. Where are you located Paul? Perhaps you could try it on me, and I can see if I like it or not.

                  h jess. was just reading your comment. i remember once i got detenchen because i got set up for something i didnt even do. my opions were limited as the teacher who gave me detenchen hated me as well. it happens alot here in ireland exept we dont have the saturday detenchen. i remember i told my year head what happend which lucky for me she had a tendancy to listen to both sides of the story. i was accused of spilling washing up liquid in class to which the whole class backed me up but the teacher still wouldnt listen. me and my year head went into his office and argued with him for over 1 hour. at one stage he said that i shouldnt have spoken to him in the way that i did and iasked him how did he expect me to react and he went silent and tried to change the subject. before i got my year head involved i told him i was innocent and he told me to go to the principal but i knew dam well it was a trap because the principal would have just backed him up. when i went into his office with my year head he asked me why didnt i go to the principal and i told him that there was no point because he would just back you up sir. so during the course of the meeting we argued the points of each others side of the story and got pretty heated. he was saying that i had spilled washing up liquid on the floor and i got him to admit he didnt even see what exactly happend. at one stage he told me to do the detenchen out of respect for the school and i asked him how long and he said 30 minutes and i responded no way thats half the lunch break ill do 10 minutes out of respect but not half an hour. the bell rang for the end of school and he said we will continue this debate tomorrow and as i walked out of the room my year head approached me and asked me if i was ok because i did look very angry and tence. i told her i was ok and went home. the next morning he called me into his office and told me that i was still on detenchen but the time was reduced to 15 minutes. my advise is teachers are beatable at arguments. you just have to be very good at backing yourself up

              Hi, it was pretty much the same, but I got used to it. Again it was till 7pm. And yes I had to face the wall again, and write lines again. I also had to clean the staff toilets. I actually got Saturday and Sunday detention last weekend and I have it till the end of the term which is about 3 weeks away. As I got another afterschool detention with the teacher I had 2 detentions with. So I'm literally on afterschool detentions 2 days a week on Thursdays im on detention for 3 hours, and on Tuesdays for 2 hours Saturdays on detention from 9am to 7pm, and on Sunday 9am to 5pm. But I got sick last Sunday as I had to pick up the rubbish from outside, and it was raining and I got soaking wet. Then I had to come inside the class and face the wall until I was dry which was about 2 and half hours. But I feel it was easy telling my parents the detentions I got. As I was really worried the first time. I even told them the punishments given to me. And they too said it is easy, as if it was in their time they wouldve also got the cane.

              Funny thing is, Im actually starting to like the head teacher. Which is weird, as in I find him attractive. I want to make a move on him, but Im scared too.

      Far out, school just restarted and I got an on the spot afterschool detention today, and school's only been going till last Thursday, the on the spot was for an hour. As I didn't have the proper school books needed and had last weekend to get them.

      So when I was on detention the teacher asked why I didnt get them last weekend, and I told the teacher I didn't get a chance, and she goes well you won't get a chance this weekend, as Im putting you on all day Saturday and all day Sunday detention 9am to 5pm both days, and tomorrow you will be on detention with me again till 9pm and we will go shopping for the book once we leave the school premises at about 7pm. There is late night shopping, and she said she will take me home and have a chat to my parents about why I dont have the books I need, and how I will be punished on the weekend, as the school library is open, most days and looks like Ill be in class with or without the teacher as most times. I think she will get overtime as well.
